Architectal Digest is calling it: the patterned sofa is making a comeback. Patterned and colorful sofas have lost popularity over the last few decades as society shifted towards minimalistic trends in interior design. Minimalism, though classy and timeless, can become underwhelming. It's natural to crave visual stimulation and color in a room–whether it is through a boldly printed sofa or a subtle pop of color in your decor.

Patterns give visual depth to a space by creating a focal point and introducing new colors and textures. Patterns can be bold, colorful, and high-contrast, making them a fun and exciting addition to a room. Some people may find such patterns to be “too busy.” If you relate to this, you can also find low-contrast, soft patterns that utilize colors already in your room.

Within our extensive selection of simple fabrics at Sauder Furniture and Design Studio, we offer a wide variety of gorgeous patterned fabrics to enhance the look of your sofa. As patterned sofas make their comeback, you’ll begin to notice more prints in the store. We are excited to explore the world of patterns and prints again, reintroducing new levels of visual depth to your room. If a patterned sofa isn’t quite your style, consider a fun accent chair or ottoman as an alternative. Ranging from bright and bold patterns to simple and subtle patterns–if you’re looking to spice up your home, we’ve got something for you! Come and explore our fabric selection to discover your favorite prints and patterns.

Enjoy this throwback photo of the store, circa 1970s, and our most recent custom-patterned sofa. Trending colors are following those of 50 years ago with mustard yellow, olive green, and terracotta making a comeback. These photos also serve as a great example of statement patterns and a modest pattern. Which style suits you better?
