Did you know window chords can present a serious safety hazard for your kids? October is Window Covering Safety month and the Window Covering Safety Council and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has made it their priority to raise awareness about the potential hazards of a simple window chord. Michael A. Cienian, VP of Quality Assurance at Hunter Douglas, provides some basic precautions your family can take to protect your children:

• Move all furniture, cribs, and beds away from windows. • Keep all window cords out of reach of children. • Install cordless window coverings in homes with small children. • Make sure tasseled pull cords are as short as possible. • Check that chord stops are properly installed and adjusted to limit inner-cord movement.

Chord-less Window Coverings available at Sauder Furniture.

If you’re a parent, grandparent, or have small children in your home please take a few minutes to check the safety of your window coverings. To read more, go to hunterdouglas.com and review the “Hunter Douglas Child Safety at the Window” brochure.
