This time every month I ask our designer’s what their favorite new piece is. However, as August is already underway I asked them to reflect on this summer’s signature trends. From color combos to mixed materials our designers have brought you this summer’s biggest hits.
Not to be restricted to summer months, pairing metal and wood has been a year-long trend that has only gained momentum. If you’re not a one-note kind of person this combination is for you. Super modern and clean this mix of earthy and metallic proves that two is better than one. Found in many accent pieces, metal and wood is a great way to blend two styles together well adding dimension that a single material lacks.

Painted furniture is another growing trend that has taken over this summer. Bright and chock full character, painted pieces are an easy way to add color to your room. It doesn’t have to be crazy colors to make an impact, the craftsmanship will be enough to impress.

Pitchers are an unassuming kitchen item that is brimming with design potential. Beyond their utility for holding liquids, flowers, or cooking spoons, pitchers should be stored in plain sight to let their beauty shine through. If you don’t already own a ceramic or glass pitcher this is your note to get one. Use as a center piece, hot fudge carrier, or ice tea dispenser…the list goes on. One pretty pitcher and you’re in business.

The last trend this summer has embraced is a color combo. If you read our newsletters or past blogs it won’t be any shock to you when I say that everyone is going crazy for indigo and white. A refreshing palette brings new life with a deep, saturated blue paired with crisp white. If the colors of Greek Islands (think Mediterranean blue and white houses) don’t make you think of summer I don’t know what will. If you’re looking to makeover a room or even purchase a new outfit, try pairing indigo and white for colors that will last you long through the summer.
