Each year in October the furniture industry comes together for a week-long trade show in High Point, North Carolina. This year, we were fortunate enough to participate. Throughout the week, Skip sent pictures and videos of his purchases and interesting finds. Let’s review what he saw.

Havana Nights: Furniture inspired by Havana, Cuba.

Stanley Furniture spent years perfecting the furniture design based around the culture and architecture found in Havana, Cuba. The detail on these items is meticulous and will  be conversation pieces for years to come. From the warm wood tones to the goat skin table pedestal, not a detail was overlooked.

“Additionally, the collection features authentic materials including raffia, gold leaf, parchment, limestone, granite, antique mirror and luxuriantly textured fabrics.” -Stanleyfurnituremarketplace.com

Bigger is Better

At least in curio cabinets, anyway. Skip said large-scaled items were popular throughout the show. The impact of one of these cabinets in your own home would be phenomenal. Would you have to buy more accessories to fill it? I would.

Color Pop

Bright colors and patterns were shown by nearly every manufacturer. Watch for pops of color coming this spring. Some of the favorite colors used were pinks and greens. Pattern play was popular, as well. Designers did not shy away from mixing patterns and colors to create an eye-catching display. Some of our favorites here in Roanoke were the small details found in the hardware on the dressers and the embroidered textiles.

Fresh Perspective

We are looking forward to receiving new merchandise from Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines. While Skip was not able to photograph inside the showroom at High Point, he remarks that there are big changes coming to her line. She is beginning to branch out from the ship lap that made her famous. In exchange for her farmhouse style, Skip says to expect items that have an exposed and deconstructed frame. The neutral linen is still a staple in her line but she is experimenting by using it in fresh and unexpected ways.
