Rethinking the Centerpiece

Updated: Feb 1

The dining room table gets a lot of love. Family dinners, game night, and long Saturday mornings spent sipping coffee all happen around this central area. However, your tabletop might not be getting a lot of design attention. The occasional fresh cut flowers might find their way to the table or a special occasion might warrant a few candles, but from day to day your table sits bare. This blog is an encouragement to rethink your dining room table and its potential to be the center of a whole lot of style. Thanks to our designer Laura’s expert eye and fun-loving personality, the next four looks take you beyond the traditional flowers and may get you rethinking the centerpiece.

1. Simple, fun, and takes little technical skills, this first look was pulled together by gathering a few different fun candlesticks and playing around with the arrangement. The white color and scale make it a statement-making yet accessible centerpiece.

2. “I just love this pig!” Laura exclaimed, “He is so cute.” I couldn’t agree more. So much personality in a wrought-iron, vintage pig and it’s just begging to be the center of attention. Traditionally used on a mantel piece or bookshelf, Laura re-imagined this little dude for a quirky table top. A touch of green topiaries added dimension and color.

3. Coastal has never been bigger or more ingenious then adding a dash of the sea-side to your table. Aquatic colors and nautical touches make this table top bright and welcoming. Another great idea from Laura- don’t be afraid to display your dishes. A patterned bowl or ornamental glasses can create a unique yet functional design.

4. Not straying too far from traditional flowers, this look gets an upgrade with beautiful silks. Not only will you get gorgeous greens and vibrant colors all year round, you can easily switch it out for something more seasonal. Laura picked a neutural piece that balances delicate florals and greens with a sturdy wood palette window box. (A big thanks to our friends at LeFleur Floral Design for this custom creation).
