May's Must-Haves

Michaela

Updated: Feb 1

Sauder Furniture constantly has new furniture and accessories coming through the doors. This week I asked our resident pros to give me their current must-have list from our new inventory knowing that their designer’s eye would catch details I never would have noticed. Susan’s Picks: Susan immediately knew that she had to include this crystal lamp.

Perfect for an end table or bed side reading, this lamp has beautiful lines that make it simple, classic, and elegant. The crystal and neutral accents make it extremely versatile, and the unique shade adds distinction. Susan’s second must-have is an over-sized wall clock.

“It adds a nice punch,” Susan remarked, and I have to agree. The simple black and white coloring is surprisingly fun and would liven up a blank wall in any kitchen or game room. A simple gray sofa and chaise was Susan’s third pick. At first glance I couldn’t tell what made Susan gravitate towards

this particular couch, but after she pointed out this tailored piece is covered with a light-looking fabric that is actually made from durable material, I understood that this was the holy grail of sofas. A comfortable, stylish, and family-friendly couch is all anyone could ask for, and the sapphire blue pillows are an added bonus. Laura’s Picks: Laura’s list started with a crafted wooden

headboard. However, being the design pro that she is, she didn’t just see a headboard that was relegated to stand behind a bed its whole life. She immediately began rattling off places she would like to see it used: in an entryway, behind a sofa, or even as a room divider. Laura took this already striking headboard and transformed it into a piece of art. A good designer’s work isn’t just pretty, it’s functional.

Nowralk Storage Ottoman

That’s why Laura loves the triple threat of a storage ottoman. Beautifully crafted, this ottoman acts as foot rest, storage container, and extra seating. Maximizing the functionality of a piece doesn’t have to mean sacrificing design.  Laura’s third pick was a Hunter Douglas window treatment. Many people don’t take note of the potential hazards of UV light and how it can age

wood floors and fade leather fabrics. Hunter Douglas windows provide light and heat control which will protect your floors and furniture while giving the room added climate control. Watching our designer’s at work I realized that exceptional furniture is hallmarked by utility and style. The marriage of form and function into one piece is a truly beautiful design.
