A room doesn’t have to be blinged out and bedazzled to feel upscale. Adding a few key elements can instantly elevate a room to look more glamorous, however it takes a careful eye for details. After talking to our in-house experts I’ve come up with five ways to make any room in your house feel a little more luxurious:

1. Finishes- Metallic and reflective finishes are the way to go. Finding a silk lampshade with a slight sheen and a unique pattern is an easy way to bring elements of glamor to an otherwise dull space.
2. Statement Art- One well picked piece can draw the viewer in, and balance shape, line, and color of the overall design while looking elegant. I think we should rename it the all-in-one miracle worker.
3. Linens- Spending time in a 5-star hotel or spa means the very best fabrics. Simple all-white linens are an easy way to bring this luxury home and make a space feel clean, bright, and elegant.
4. The Character Piece- In order to bring charm to any chic room, invest in one piece that is truly unique such as an antique or handmade furniture. A “stand out” piece adds dimension to an otherwise flat space.
5. Lighting- With about a thousand options for lamps and lighting, why not add a little sparkle? One gorgeous lamp can add upscale charm to an otherwise ordinary end table.
With a few, careful changes a room can feel upscale. If you are intentional about the little details they add up to one luxurious space without having to recreate an entire room. Personally, I find these “little details” difficult to manage, and it’s hard for me to picture, for example, what a brass versus copper finish would look like. If you’re like me and need professional guidance, Sauder Furniture’s team of design experts are available to help find your design in the details.
