Big, fluffy peonies and fragrant lilacs are a very tactile way to bring the colors and scents of summer into your home. If you have indoor plants, try switching out their pots for colorful baskets or pottery; and if you’re feeling really creative you can paint your own flower pots for a fun DIY project. If real plants are too high maintenance, silk arrangements are a beautiful way to achieve the same look without the upkeep. Silk wreaths are a great addition to any wall art or door.

Nature and coastal inspired decor is a subtle way to bring in summer. There is an abundance of nature and beach themed accessories to seamlessly add into your existing style, and it only takes a few key pieces to change the entire mood of the room.

Your tabletop is another easy place to add seasonal touches. With so many patriotic holidays this time of year, any red, white, and blue napkins or table cloth will last you for months.

As a general rule of thumb, opt for lighter and brighter accents. Dark and heavy drapes don’t exactly denote summertime fun, but transparent sheers lend an airy feel. If you pay attention to the color story and weight of objects you can invite the outdoors in.
