One of my very favorite features about my own home is my front porch. During a warm, sunny day, I can spend countless hours enjoying a tall glass of lemonade and the warm breeze. I look forward to decorating my porch for every season but I think my favorite is summertime when I am able to enjoy it the most.
What are my favorite items to use when decorating a porch? Lanterns, pillows, and greenery!
Lanterns are an easy way to add height and can be used in a primitive or contemporary setting. It’s best to use lanterns in pairs of varying heights to add visual interest. Even hung, lanterns make a beautiful statement and add a soft ambience to invite guests to sit and stay awhile.

What front porch is complete without a cozy spot to sit? Not only do decorative pillows serve a comfortable function, they, also, add a needed “pop” to the outside environment. Gone are the days of only solid or botanical print outdoor cushions. With the large array of gorgeous outdoor fabrics available today, the options are endless. This new trend makes seasonally updating your front porch a breeze *pun intended*

Florals and foliage will add a touch of color and texture to your front porch. Select plants that are able to thrive in the shade or partial sun as a those that require full sun will struggle on a covered front porch. Some of the best plants for the front porch are ferns, hostas, and impatients. If your thumb is not green, like mine, faux florals will add color and look great all season-long.

Even if you do not have a porch, these are wonderful tips to remember when decorating your outdoor entry. Here’s wishing you many sunny days, an abundance of lemonade, and a good book to enjoy your own front porch or a friends this season.
