Dickens’ Dragonfly

Updated: Feb 1

We’re not the only one supporting Breast Cancer Awareness month by proudly donning pink. Sid Dickens, the creator of the popular and creative Memory Blocks art pieces, painted the back of the Transformation Memory Block pink to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Transformation Memory Block is symbolized through the illustration of a dragonfly. A dragonfly will spend the first years of its life in the water. One day, the dragonfly will climb out of the water and begin to breathe air and will shed its old skin, revealing wings that transforms the dragonfly’s reality to something completely new and different.

These small, fragile creatures symbolize the possibility of change to transform our lives permanently.

“The challenges we face in life will leave us forever changed, sometimes physically. We may even appear to vanish to our friends, but we have simply changed forms. A challenging life path can allow us to gather the strength needed to use the inner courage we were born with. After this difficult transformation, survivors and those who fought gain a new and beautiful kind of life.” -Sid Dickens

These Memory Blocks are a great way to show support and honor a loved one you know who has been affected by breast cancer. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness, the backs of the Transformation Memory Blocks have been painted pink and 25% of the proceeds are donated to breast cancer support. A few Transformation Memory Blocks, which were personally signed by Sid Dickens, are available for purchase at Sauder Furniture. Our hope is that it will represent the inspirational journey of transformation you or a loved one have undergone due to breast cancer.
