Blog- Ruth Ann

One of Sauder Furniture’s talented designers: Ruth Ann Martino

Ruth Ann was introduced to me as, “One of the nicest people ever.” Not only is Ruth Ann an exceptionally sweet person, she is an equally exceptional designer. Ruth Ann first took an interest in design in high school home economics classes, which furthered her love of color, texture, and fabrics.

Ruth Ann began working at Sauder Furniture doing office work. However, after being exposed to different styles and spurred by her own interest, Ruth Ann evolved into an interior designer. Ruth Ann has become the amazing designer she is by collaborating with other designers, attending design workshops, and having almost thirty-five years of experience.

Those years of experience have shown Ruth Ann that a key element for any design is to be inspired by the client. By getting to know her client’s unique likes, dislikes, and personality, she is able to discern what the atmosphere of the space should be before starting the actual design. In addition to designing for clients, Ruth Ann’s favorite thing about Sauder Furniture is the, “Variety of work and the people I work with.” She appreciates the family friendly store that makes for a good work environment.

Fun Facts: • Ruth Ann has fifteen grandchildren (and number sixteen on the way)! • When she’s not designing, Ruth Ann enjoys sewing, knitting, traveling with her husband, and attending the grand-children’s many activities.
